Beales Complaint

Our ref :- Audio conspiracy.

16th June 1997

Dear Sir,

I am writing to bring a complaint of apocalyptic proportions to your attention.
On the 5/4/97 I entered your store to purchase a Hi-fi and-video player, and due to your very. goodreputation I foolishly assumed that I would get quality goods and customer service to die for, but alas, this was not to-be;-forbver the past two months I have been tormented in a way no living creatureshould be. I have been dealt with faulty goods, poor customer care and charges to my account whichshould not have occurred.

So what went wrong I here you say, well, here's my story.

I entered the aboveformentioned store based in Poole and partook in the opening of a store account(account number- 3618062 - if you wish to check) as this seemed to be the best way to pay for thepre-chosen Sony MHC901AN Hi-fi, and the Sony SLVE40 Vcr, with a store card I also had toopportunity to easily purchase other goods if, and when needed- I was accepted. So I purchased theitems in question.

The first problem arose when they did not have the controller or the operating instructions for the Vcr,so they very kindly let me use an alternative controller while they ordered the relevant goods. When I got the items home I found my second problem, the tape player. did not function properly,'thiswas until the next day, when to my astonishment the Vcr was taken by the Grim Reaper - R.I.P.I returned the faulty goads, the Vcr was sent away and I exchanged the Hi-fi for an alternative model.Whilst the I asked after the ordered goods and was told that they would take about 10 days toemerge.

When I got home, I installed the Hi-fi, and once again I had been dealt a faulty hand, the tape playerdid not function properly, so once again I had to wait for the opportunity to take the Hi-fi back, and asI am not the lucky owner of a car I had to rely on my, very much inconvenienced, friends and family, for the third time.

Whilst there I picked up the Vcr which had apparently been repaired (another foolish assumption) andquestioned the length of time taken to receive the Vcr controller and instructions, for which the replywas that they had not been ordered yet, I was stupefied at their incapacity. If. salesperson No.31482W expressed his inablity to write I would have ordered the parts myself.

After a few days the Vcr again went to meet its maker in silicon heaven. As it died of exactly thesame fault as before I came to the conclusion that the service engineer that operated on this poor Vcrcould not tell the difference between an electronic component, and a dolly mixture. A conclusionwhich was later upheld when I got a phone call explaining that they were having difficulty finding thefault, I was asked if I would like them to send it of to an independent company?. Rather than put itthrough more pain and suffering I let it die peacefully, I told them to credit my account, to which theyreplied that I would have to go back to the store for a sixth time and explain the situation.

Since then I have not been able to get into Poole when your shop has been open to do this, and when I got a charge of interest on my account for £7.13, this for an account balance of £265.20 when only£36.20 is appropriate, I was forced to write this letter to which I am also not happy.
I have not received my Hi-fi back yet so I can not make any judgement on that as of yet.In all circumstances I think it is only fair that you sort out the inappropriate charge on my account and anything else which you would consider a gesture of good will to restore my faith and my friends/familys faith in your company.

Your Sincerely

Tony Gayter.
A tortured soul.
